Since I am studying CRM - customer relationships management, I am thinking of creating a group for people who enjoy reading books, buying books, collecting books, writing books, publishing books, and basically anything to do with books. Does anyone think this is a good idea? What would the name of the group be? Book lovers? Passionate about books? Bookworms united?

How Motivational Books Can Help Medical Students...
More from my inbox...
"Salam, Dr Mazlyn,
We met Prof X yesterday, the official meeting is tomorrow morning. He said it all depends on us either to proceed or change. Classes and CA doesn't give carry marks. But he will point which CA we should attend to check our progress and make sure we are studying.
It makes me confused either to stay or not. I asked to see the marks but he said it is confi...dential. Is medical school like that? We can only know our grade without knowing which part we really need to improve? Perhaps because after all, we still have to know everything to practise.
Me and my two friends stick to our decision to continue in medicine and give it our best in this one year. We agreed that we haven't gone all out. Surely, we need to change our attitude.
Honestly, I'll say that I didn't study much. Not as hardworking as I was during SPM. Perhaps I enjoyed my university life too much. No one to scold me. None to say this and that compared to when I live in hostel. And it give me time to enjoy and I've abused using the internet. Now, I really have to grow up and learn to do everything on my own.
I don't know who should to ask opinion. I hope u can help. My family said it depends on me to proceed or to change. My sponsor too".
We met up, I gave these x-students some books. This was followed by the message below:
"I actually want to hear your opinion whether to continue medicine or change course. Which one would be better.
But after reading your books, I decided to repeat year.
To be honest, you already helped me a lot and I just want to share what I keep to myself. I rarely share with others not even friends or family. I don't want to burden others.
Your books give me idea how to move on and I plan on having my own motivational books collection".
Me: That's great. Istikharah prayer is also good for divine guidance.
"If I am burdening you this time, sorry and thanks. Your personality/background make me comfortable to share".
Me: Not at all, just busy, sorry for the late reply. (The last line made me think). — with Adibah Razak and 15 others.See More

The Cave...Surah Al-Kahfi
Secrets of Surah Al-Kahf!!
Ever wondered why Prophet Muhammad (SAW) asked us to recite Surat Al-Kahf every Friday?
This surah has four stories in it, having some morals, lets see them and understand what they are saying to us:
...
1) The people of the cave
It's the story of young men who lived in a disbelieving town, so they decided to migrate for the sake of Allah and run away. Allah rewards them with mercy in the cave and protection from the sun - they woke up and found the entire village believers.
Moral: trial of faith
2) The owner of two gardens
A story of a man whom Allah blessed with two beautiful gardens, but the man forgot to thank the one who blessed him with everything and he even dared to doubt Allah regarding the afterlife. So his garden was destroyed - he regretted ,but was too late and his regret did not bene?t him.
Moral: trial of wealth
3) Musa(as) and Khidr(as)
When musa(as) was asked-“who’s the most knowledgeable of the people of earth?”” Musa(as) said: me…,but Allah revealed to him that there’s someone who knows more than him. Musa(as) traveled to the man and learned how the divine wisdom can sometimes be hidden in matters which we perceive as bad.
Moral: trial of knowledge
4) Dhul-qarnayn
It's a story of the great king that was given knowledge and power and was going around the world, helping people and spreading all that’s good. He was able to overcome the problem of Yajooj-Majooj and build a massive dam with the help of people whom he could not even understand.
Moral: trial of power
In the middle of the surah Allah mentions iblees as the one who stirs these trials:
Behold! we said to the angels “bow down to adam”: they bowed down except iblis. he was one of the jinns, and he broke the command of his lord. will ye then take him and his progeny as protectors rather than me? and they are enemies to you! evil would be the exchange for the wrongdoers!
Now let us see what’s the relationship between surat al-kahf and the dajjal (anti-christ)?
Dajjal will appear before day of judgement with the 4 trials:
A) He’ll ask people to worship him and not Allah: trial of faith.
He’ll be given powers to start/stop rain and tempt people with his wealth: trial of with his wealth.
C) He’ll trial people with the “knowledge” and news he gives them: trial of knowledge.
D) He’ll control huge parts of the earth: trial of power.
How to survive these trials? The answers are in Surat Al-Kahf:
Survival kit 1: Good companionship
“and keep thy soul content with those who call on their lord morning and evening, seeking his face; and let not thine eyes pass beyond them, seeking the pomp and glitter of this life; no obey any whose heart we have permitted to neglect the remembrance of us, one who follows his own desires, whose case has gone beyond all bounds.” (Surat al-kahf, verse 28)
Survival kit 2: Knowing the truth of this world
“set forth to them the similitude of the life of this world: it is like the rain which we send down from the skies: the earth’s vegetation absorbs it, but soon it becomes dry stubble, which the winds do scatter: it is (only) Allah who prevails over all things” (Surat al-kahf, verse 45)
Survival kit 3: Humbleness.
[Moses] said, "You will find me, if Allah wills, patient, and I will not disobey you in [any] order." (Surat al-kahf, verse 69)
Survival kit 4: Sincerity.
“say: “i am but a man like yourselves, (but) the inspiration has come to me, that your Allah is one Allah whoever expects to meet his lord, let him work righteousness, and, in the worship of his lord, admit no one as partner.” (Surat al- kahf, verse 110)
Survival kit 5: Calling to Allah.
“and recite (and teach) what has been revealed to thee of the book of thy lord: none can change his words, and none wilt thou ?nd as a refuge other than him.” (surat al-kahf, verse 27)
Survival kit 6: Remembering the Hereafter.
“ one day we shall remove the mountains, and thou wilt see the earth as a level stretch, and we shall gather them, all together, nor shall we leave out any one of them. and they will be marshalled before thy lord in ranks, (with the announcement), “now have ye come to us (bare) as we created you ?rst: aye, ye thought we shall not ful?l the appointment made to you to meet (us)!”: and the book (of deeds) will be placed (before you); and thou wilt see the sinful in great terror because of what is (recorded) therein; they will say, “ah! woe to us! what a book is this! it leaves out nothing small or great, but takes account thereof !” they will ?nd all that they did, placed before them: and not one will thy lord treat with injustice.” (surat al-kahf, verses 47-49)

The Creative Maths Teacher Turned Global Entrepreneur...
Yesterday I had the privilege of meeting one of my many facebook friends Poh Yew Teoh at Amcorp Mall.
When she handed me her business card, I replied with the usual "I don't have one at the moment because I'm at career crossroads", then I... glanced at her very unusual business card and started to fiddle with it. Much to my surprise, it opened up like a flower and there were some pieces of paper inside which turned out to be some kind of puzzle. This came with no instruction from my friend at all. I guess her cards were designed in such a way that perhaps everyone would have done the same thing.
After she showed me the trick behind the puzzle I was so amazed I told her the absolute truth. This is THE BEST business card I have ever received my whole life, and trust me, I get a lot of cards. She even gave me one for two of my boys since my 10 year old once aspired to become a magician and absolutely loves tricks.
It turns out my friend was a maths teacher and very many years ago she thought at government schools and realised many of the weaknesses of our current education system. As any entrepreneur will tell you, a challenge or problem can actually be an opportunity if viewed the right way, and so what my friend teaches now is what is missing in mainstream education, the art of creativity, and she uses mathematics as the vehicle, her one true passion.
It was so exciting listening to how she left school in order to help school and how this one time maths teacher is now a successful global business woman.
We ended our brief meeting with a discussion of her books, how and why she self-published, the meaning of evergreen books and plenty of information and tips for a novice like me.
Truly I am blessed with amazing and talented friends who are all too generous with their experience and knowledge. I really look forward to attending her seminar with my kids and there is an upcoming event on the 19th November partially sponsored so it's a great deal. I think every parent should take the opportunity to learn from this gifted teacher. Maths is definitely magical!See More
