No jobs for medical grads and the quick response (review entry requirements)

Interesting problem...

Have they considered 3 shift like our nurses....life could be better than before.more time for family

Let's brainstorm this trigger

Well then maybe they should stop making the doctors work 36 hours in a row

Also for the record the same thing was said about IT grads 10 years ago. I assure you there are more jobs in IT than there are (qualified) people to fill them.

I think they also should consider the quality of the graduates too.

It's not necessarily a problem/a bad thing. I agree, emphasis should be on quality of graduates, make the necessary changes in the schools that exist to achieve this. Also add in more after-graduation training programs to cater for such needs. The country is still very short of lecturers, professors and specialists. Develop programs and provide funding to help the right candidate/s progress

Do we really have so many doctors? Or they don't have enough money to pay the salary?

for newly grad doctors, they need proper training and supervision, hence the post is called houseman/intern. Although graduated, they are only under provisional registration in the medical council, after completing housemanship satisfactorily (I am unaware of the system because I did mine in Ireland where all the consultants who supervised you have to sign a form saying you are competent) then only you become a fully registered doctor with the MMC and hence in theory can work independently as a medical officer, but medical officers, depending on seniority (years of service) may or may not require the opinions/help of other doctors eg specialists/registrars etc when managing patients. So the answer is both, not enough posts that provide adequate training due to limited facilities and adequate training which is limited by funding, human resources and logistics...

I can't open the attachment. But seeing how the doctors are working in the government hospitals n clinics and also sometimes even queuing in private clinics made me think we don't have enough doctors. (Becoz we waste lots of money in unnecessary things, thats why we don't have enough for the important one: that's my opinion)

The article is talking about next year...

It's the training center that is the issue. All newly grad doctors need to undergo supervised training (housemanship) and not all hospitals are gazetted training center. With the mushrooming private colleges/universities offering medical degrees and students graduating from these, it's inevitable that there is not enough 'trainers' or training space for all of them

I feel the government should not just cut completely but by stages. What are these students going to do? My friend from teacher college told me the deputy have told students not to expect teaching career after graduation. I don't understand why the intake if you could employ.

Prof Sri P A Hamzah,I don't think that is the main problem, if that is the problem they should have just says the required numbers instead of complete cut

The available post issue can be solved, JPA can create more posts but to build training hospitals is a whole other issue. Was told that 2015 is when doctors' job will not be guaranteed, not that all newly grad doctors will be jobless. However, this is not from official JPA circular so have to take it with a pinch of salt:)

This same problem happened to teachers-to-be since few years back. But they still have room for 'guru sandaran tidak terlatih @gstt' to do KPLI and posted them in school. GSTT are people who graduated from other field not teaching field. This make me asked WHY????

Recent case of fake doctor and sometimes doctors who give me unexpected diagnosis or prescription made me wonder if they're really qualified doctors or actually a fake one. Being in medical school for two years teach me something too even though I don't know everything. So, why we waste these 'doctors'. They need to figure out the solution. ... SOON

The Education Ministry spend RM 270 million to train English teacher (British Council) on training programme. Do you think the English level in school have improve?

There is a website where you can check if a doctor is registered please check and report if they are not.
