Flash Flood Prevention at Kg Chempaka

Kampung Chempaka, one of the few new villages in Petaling Jaya, has always been a place prone to flash flood due to the lack of development planning like many other new villages in Malaysia. Thankfully, this year, the Selangor state government has given total allocation of RM279,000 for drainage works at Jalan PJU 1/13. Through more communication between the community chief, contractor and the land office officers, we managed to use the same amount of money to do drainage works not only at Jalan PJU 1/3 but at most of the flash flood hotspots at Kg Chempaka that have been previously reported to us. Hopefully come raining season this year, residents of Kampung Chempaka will not suffer as much as previous years. Here are some pictures during our press conference and site visit yesterday morning.

Below are the progress of the project at hotspots:
1. Jalan PJU 1/13 (197m, done)
2. Jalan PJU 1/16 (15m, done)
3. Jalan PJU 1/17 (53m, done)
4. Lorong PJU 1/4E (30m, in progress)
5. Jalan PJU 1/34 (27m, done)

* Note: Another flash flood hotspot at Jalan PJU 1/4 is due to silting at Sg Kayu Ara. We are now communicating with JPS, hopefully dredging work can start soon. Road resurface will also be done at Jalan PJU 1/13 (200m) and 135m in other areas.

For those of you who are concerned that I have become a “longkang adun”, don’t worry.  I am also working hard as a legislator for state policies and currently doing a couple of researches. Findings will be presented during the state assembly period, starting 19 November. Stay tuned.
  • Shi Han Who approved the development that created this havoc? Why it was not covered earlier? I think better to charge to the developer instead of using duit rakyat.

My reply: I heard a lot of ministers are developers...at a property investment seminar not too long ago...
